Serena Gains Draw Boost
Serena Williams may only be seeded four for the US Open, but the US star looks to have got the better of the draw for the women's singles.
The Wimbledon champion is certainly the in form player going into the final Grand Slam event of the year and most expect her to collect a 15th Major title.
Second seed, Agnieszka Radwanska, who Serena defeated in the Wimbledon final, could face the younger Williams sister in the last four.
Williams is in the bottom half of the draw and she will face fellow American, Coco Vandeweghe, who she beat recently in the Stanford final, in round one.
Last year's French Open winner, China's Li, is seeded ninth, and is fancied by some fans that bet on sport to go all the way to the final, following her impressive recent performance in winning the WTA title in Cincinnati.
Top seed at Flushing Meadows is world number one, Victoria Azarenka, who is in the other half of the draw to Williams.
The Australian Open winner will play Alexandra Panova in the first round and could come up against Maria Sharapova, the third seed, in the semi-finals.
Defending champion, Sam Stosur, is seeded seven in New York, and will begin the defence of her title against Croatia's Petra Martic.
Angelique Kerber, who made the semi-finals, last year, has risen up the rankings and is seeded sixth, while former world number one, Caroline Wozniacki, will be the eighth seed.
The pick of the first round ties see 15th seed, Lucie Safarova, face home player, Melanie Oudin, a former quarter finalist, while 17th seed, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, comes up against former world number five, Daniela Hantuchova.
